Coming into force in accordance with article 1

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980(1) and now vested in him(2) and all other powers enabling him in that behalf:

1.  This instrument may be cited as “The Oxfordshire County Council (Buscot Footbridge) Scheme 1999 Confirmation Instrument 2000” and shall come into force on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 of the Highways Act 1980.

2.  The Oxfordshire County Council (Buscot Footbridge) Scheme 1999 (“the Scheme”) is hereby confirmed with modifications.

3.  The Scheme as confirmed is set out in the Schedule hereto (including the plan) and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plan as modified are deposited at the offices of the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR, and at the offices of Oxfordshire County Council at County Hall, New Road, Oxford.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEMEPLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE FOOTBRIDGE OVER THE RIVER THAMES AT BLOOMERS HOLE IN THE PARISHES OF BUSCOT AND LECHLADE

The location and general design of the bridge are shown on the plan with drawing number B9685/B1B contained herein. The bridge is sited at a location known as Bloomers Hole and crosses the River Thames in the parishes of Buscot and Lechlade. The bridge centreline is approximately 27 metres upstream of the fence line between O.S. field numbers 5300 and 6834 on the north east bank.

Points of Commencement and Termination

From a point 3 metres south west of the south west bank of the River Thames at grid reference 422527.5 E 198805.0 N on Ordnance Survey Sheet SU29.

To a point 3 metres north east of the north east bank of the River Thames at grid reference 422549.5 E 198821.0 N on Ordnance Survey Sheet SU29.

Span

A navigation square span of 23 metres.

Headway

A minimum headway of 3.3 metres above Standard Water Level (70.410 A.O.D.) over a width of 7 metres.

Waterway

A minimum clear navigable waterway of 18.5 metres.

Overall Dimensions

The bridge is to be of an overall length of 26 metres and to carry a 1.5 metre wide public footpath within an overall width of 1.8 metres.

THE OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (BUSCOT FOOTBRIDGE) SCHEME 1999

The Oxfordshire County Council (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) in agreement under section 8 Highways Act 1980 with the Gloucestershire County Council makes this Scheme pursuant to its powers under section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980 and all other powers enabling it in that behalf:

1. The Council is authorised to construct over the navigable water of the River Thames in the parishes of Buscot and Lechlade the bridge specified in the Schedule to this Scheme as part of the public footpath designated the Thames Path National Trail

2. This Scheme may be cited as the Oxfordshire County Council (Buscot Footbridge) Scheme 1999
