The Minister for the Cabinet Office makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 74 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007(1):
1. This Order may be cited as the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (Commencement No. 2 and Transitional Provision) Order 2008.
2. The provisions of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 which are not already in force come into force on 1st April 2008.
3. Section 27(1) (Reports) does not apply to the financial year ending on 31st March 2008.

This Order brings into force on 1st April 2008 those provisions of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 which are not already in force.
Those provisions are as follows:
sections 8 and 9 which make provision for the general functions of the Statistics Board (“the Board”) relating to official statistics;
sections 12 to 19 which make provision in relation to national statistics;
sections 20 and 21 which make provision in relation to the production of statistics;
sections 22 and 23 which make provision in relation to additional statistical functions of the Board;
section 25 which transfers the functions of the Registrar General for England and Wales in relation to the census (Schedule 1);
sections 27 and 29 which make supplemental provisions in relation to the Board’s functions;
sections 30 to 37 which provide for the organisation and administration of the Board;
sections 38 and 41 which make provision in relation to the use and disclosure of information by the Board;
sections 42 to 46 which make provision in relation to information sharing (Schedule 2);
sections 55 to 60 which make consequential provisions (Schedule 3);
sections 61 to 64 which make miscellaneous provisions;
section 68 which amends the Registration Service Act 1953 (c. 37) to incorporate the Registrar General;
section 73 which makes provision in relation to repeals (Schedule 4).
