Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Scotland Act 1998 (Consequential Modifications) (No.1) Order 1999.

(2) This Order shall come into force as follows:–

(a)articles 1 to 3 shall come into force on 6th May 1999;

(b)article 4 shall come into force on the date of coming into force of section 44(1)(c) of the 1998 Act(1); and

(c)article 5 shall come into force on the principal appointed day(2).

(3) In this Order, “the 1998 Act” means the Scotland Act 1998.

In terms of Article 2(2) of and Schedule 4 to the Scotland Act 1998 (Commencement) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/3178), section 44(1)(c) comes into force on 20th May 1999.

(2)

Article 3 of the Scotland Act 1998 (Commencement) Order 1998 specifies 1st July 1999 as the principal appointed day for the purposes of the 1998 Act.
