44.—(1) In section 44(1)(b) and (9) of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 M1 (restrictions on reporting alleged offences involving persons under 18), the references to a person subject to service law include a person who, at the time of the alleged offence, was subject to military law or air-force law or to NDA 1957, or was a civilian subject to the SDAs.

(2) For the purposes of paragraph 6(3) of Schedule 7 to the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 (transitional provision), proceedings on appeal from a Standing Civilian Court are to be taken to have been instituted when notice of appeal was given under paragraph 18(3) of Schedule 3 to AFA 1976.
