The Water Supply (Water Quality) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 3B and 3C of the Water and Sewerage Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1973(1) and, being a department designated(2) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(3) in relation to measures relating to the quality of water intended for domestic purposes or for use in food production undertaking in exercise of the powers conferred on it by that section and of every other power enabling it on that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Water Supply (Water Quality) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 28th August 2003.

Amendment of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002

2.  The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002(4) shall be amended in accordance with regulations 3 to 4.

3.  In regulation 25 (interpretation of part VII), after “First Edition” there shall be inserted “(Revised February 2003)”.

4.  Regulation 32 (offences) shall be revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations amend the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 (“the principal Regulations”).

These Regulations amend the principal Regulations by–

(a)in regulation 25 (the interpretation of Part VII), substituting a reference to the First Edition of the Guidance for Cryptosporidium with a reference to the First Edition (Revised February 2003),

(b)revoking regulation 32 (offences).
