The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1 (2) of the Safety of Sports Grounds (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 (1), makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Safety of Sports Grounds (2006 Order) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2009.
2. The day appointed for the coming into operation of the following provisions of the Safety of Sports Grounds (Northern Ireland) Order 2006—
(a)Article 4 (Designation of sports grounds);
(b)Article 5 (Contents of safety certificate);
(c)Article 6 ( Applications for safety certificates);
(d)Article 7 (Amendment, replacement, transfer, cancellation or surrender of certificates);
(e)Article 8 (Appeals);
(f)Article 13 (Safety certificates for stands at sports grounds which are not designated under Part II);
(g)Article 14 (Contents of safety certificates for stands);
(h)Article 15 (Issue of certificates);
(i)Article 16 (Amendment, replacement, cancellation, transfer or surrender of certificates);
(j)Article 17 (Appeals);
(k)Article 18 (Offences);
(l)Article 20 (Alterations and extensions); and
(m)Article 21 (Exclusion of other statutory requirements)
is 31st December 2009.

This Order provides for the coming into operation on 31st December 2009 of Articles 4 to 8, 13 to 18, 20 and 21 of the Safety of Sports Grounds (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 relating to the designation of sports grounds and the administration, issuing and enforcement of safety certificates by the District Councils in Northern Ireland.
Articles 1 to 3, 9 to 12, 19 and 22 to 27 of the Safety of Sports Grounds (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 came into operation on the 14th March 2006.
