Coming into force
The Scottish Ministers make this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 17(2) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 19731 and all other powers enabling them to do so.
This Order gives effect without modification to proposals made to them by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland on 24th March 2009.
Citation and commencement1
This Order may be cited as the Glasgow City Council Area and North Lanarkshire Council Area (Cardowan by Stepps) Boundaries Amendment Order 2009 and comes into force on 1st April 2010.
Interpretation2
In this Order—
a
“the 1977 Regulations” means the Local Government Area Changes (Scotland) Regulations 19772); and
“the transfer area” is that part of the area of Glasgow City Council described in the Schedule and shown delineated and hatched on the boundary map recorded by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland on the DVD-ROM—
i
entitled “The Glasgow City Council Area and North Lanarkshire Council Area (Cardowan by Stepps) Boundaries Amendment 2009 Map”; and
ii
deposited with the local authorities affected and elsewhere in accordance with regulation 3 of the 1977 Regulations; and
b
references to administrative boundaries in the Schedule are references to the boundaries existing immediately before the commencement of this Order.
Application of the 1977 Regulations3
The 1977 Regulations apply in relation to the area change effected by this Order except insofar as they can have no application in relation to that change.
Area change4
The transfer area is transferred to the area of North Lanarkshire Council.
Consequential changes of electoral arrangements5
The transfer area shall—
a
cease to form part of electoral ward 21 (North East) of the area of Glasgow City Council3; and
b
form part of electoral ward 5 (Strathkelvin) of the area of North Lanarkshire Council4.
SCHEDULE
The transfer area is the area situated at the administrative boundary between Glasgow City Council and North Lanarkshire Council from the point just to the west of the south-western corner of Honeywell Court at Grid reference NS669678; then generally eastwards for a distance of around 250m along the outer face of the rear fences of the properties in Honeywell Court, Honeywell Drive and Honeywell Place, until it reaches the roundabout at the south-eastern corner of the estate; then northwards for a distance of around 250m along the eastern face of the bounding fence at the eastern edge of Dewar Road until it meets the administrative boundary at Grid reference NS671681; and then westwards and southwards along the administrative boundary to the point of commencement.
