12 [F1Provisions as to cathedral architects or surveyors of the fabric and cathedral archaeologists.]U.K.

(1)It shall be the duty of the [F2Chapter of a cathedral ] to consult the Commission before appointing a cathedral architect [F3or surveyor of the fabric].

(2)It shall be the duty of the [F2Chapter of a cathedral] [F4after consulting the Commission to appoint a cathedral archaeologist], except in any case in which the Commission notifies the [F2Chapter] that in the view of the Commission the archaeological significance of that cathedral church does not justify such an appointment.
