Coming into force
This Order is made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 101(4) of the Terrorism Act 20001 (“the 2000 Act”).
In accordance with section 101(2) of the 2000 Act, the Secretary of State has published a draft of the revised code of practice which is brought into operation by this Order, and considered representations made to him about that draft.
In accordance with section 101(3) a draft of the revised code of practice has been laid before Parliament, and a draft of this instrument has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament pursuant to section 123(4) of the 2000 Act.
Accordingly, the Secretary of State makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement1
This Order may be cited as the Terrorism Act 2000 (Revised Code of Practice for the Identification of Persons by Police Officers) (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
Code of practice2
The revised code of practice in connection with the exercise by police officers of powers conferred by the 2000 Act which was laid in draft before Parliament on 14th March 20062 shall come into operation on 12th May 2006.
