Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993

20N.I.For section 1 of the M1Resident Magistrates’ Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 1960 (Resident Magistrate to vacate office at the end of the completed year of service in which he attains the age of 70, but with power to continue in office up to the age of 72) there shall be substituted—

1 Retiring age of resident magistrates.

Every resident magistrate (whether appointed before or after the passing of this Act) shall vacate his office on the day on which he attains the age of seventy; but this section is subject to section 26(4) to (6) of the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993 (Lord Chancellor’s power to authorise continuance in office up to the age of 75).
