The Judicial Committee (Trinidad and Tobago) Order 1966

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 11th day of November 1966

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the power conferred on Her by section 1(1) of the Judicial Committee Amendment Act 1895 and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

This Order may be cited as the Judicial Committee (Trinidad and Tobago) Order 1966.

The High Court of Trinidad and Tobago is hereby named as a Superior Court for the purposes of the Judicial Committee Amendment Act 1895.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Section 1(1) of the Judicial Committee Amendment Act 1895 provides that, if any person being or having been Chief Justice or a Judge of the Supreme Court or of a Superior Court of certain of Her Majesty's Dominions specified in the said Act, or of any other Superior Court in Her Majesty's Dominions named in that behalf by Her Majesty in Council, is a member of Her Majesty's Privy Council, he shall be a member of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. This Order names the High Court of Trinidad and Tobago as a Superior Court for the purposes of the said Act.
