The Control of Pollution Act 1974 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1974

Made

The Secretary of State for the Environment (as respects England), the Secretary of State for Wales (as respects Wales), and the Secretary of State for Scotland (as respects Scotland), in exercise of their powers under section 109(2) of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following order:—

This order may be cited as the Control of Pollution Act 1974 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1974.

The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

The following provisions of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 namely—

a

section 108(1), so far as it applies to paragraphs 1 to 4 of Schedule 3 (which make minor and consequential amendments of the Alkali, &c. Works Regulation Act 1906), and

b

section 108(2), so far as it applies to repeals effected by Schedule 4 to the Alkali, &c. Works Regulation Act 1906,

shall come into operation on 1st January 1975.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force on 1st January 1975 provisions of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 which effect repeals and amendments in the Alkali, &c. Works Regulation Act 1906.

The Order applies to England, Wales and Scotland.
