In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 16(1) of the Criminal Justice Act 1987(1), I hereby make the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 1987 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1988.

The provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 1987 specified in the Schedule to this Order shall come into force on 31st October 1988.

This Order brings into force on 31st October 1988 sections 4 to 11, and, so far as they are not already in force, section 15 of and Schedule 2 to the Criminal Justice Act 1987. Sections 4 to 11 provide for the transfer of criminal proceedings involving serious or complex fraud from the magistrates' court to the Crown Court. Section 15 and Schedule 2 make related consequential amendments. The other provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 1987 are already in force by virtue of earlier commencement orders (S.I.1987/1061, 1988/397).
