The Consumer Protection Act 1987 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1988

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 31st December 1988 the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 1987 under which the Trade Descriptions Act 1972 (which required certain names and marks applied to imported goods to be accompanied by an indication of origin) is repealed.

The previous Commencement Order was the Consumer Protection Act 1987 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1987 (S.I. 1987/1680). The main provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 1987 not brought into force by this Order and the earlier Commencement Order are those of Part III (misleading price indications).
