The Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989 (Commencement) Order 1990

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred on him by section 5(1) of the Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989(1), hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989 (Commencement) Order 1990.

2.  The following provisions of the Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989 shall come into force on 31st July 1990—

(a)Section 1;

(b)Section 4, except in so far as it relates to section 40 of the Law of Property Act 1925(2).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 31st July 1990 those provisions of the Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989 which relate to deeds and their execution, namely sections 1 and 4 and the related consequential amendments and repeals specified in Schedule 1 and 2 to the Act. When this Order takes effect the whole of the Act will be in force, the other provisions having come into force on 27th September 1989, two months after Royal Assent.
