Coming into force

The Lord Chancellor, with the advice and assistance of the Rule Committee appointed in pursuance of section 144 of the Land Registration Act 19251, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by that section and sections 34(10) and 57(11) of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 19932, hereby makes the following rules:

Citation and commencement1

These rules may be cited as the Land Registration (Leasehold Reform) Rules 1993 and shall come into force on 1st January 1994.

Statement to be inserted in a conveyance or transfer2

The statement required by section 34(10) of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 to be inserted into any conveyance executed for the purposes of Chapter I of Part I of that Act shall be in the following form:

  • This conveyance [or transfer] is executed for the purposes of Chapter I of Part I of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993.

Statement to be inserted in a lease3

The statement required by section 57(11) of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 to be inserted into any new lease granted under section 56 of that Act shall be in the following form:

  • This lease is granted under section 56 of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993.
