The Lord Chancellor, with the advice and assistance of the Rule Committee appointed in pursuance of section 144 of the Land Registration Act 1925(1), in exercise of the powers conferred on him by that section and sections 34(10) and 57(11) of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993(2), hereby makes the following rules:

Citation and commencement

1.  These rules may be cited as the Land Registration (Leasehold Reform) Rules 1993 and shall come into force on 1st January 1994.

Statement to be inserted in a conveyance or transfer

2.  The statement required by section 34(10) of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 to be inserted into any conveyance executed for the purposes of Chapter I of Part I of that Act shall be in the following form:

3.  The statement required by section 57(11) of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 to be inserted into any new lease granted under section 56 of that Act shall be in the following form:

Explanatory Note

(This note does not form part of the Rules)

These Rules have been made pursuant to sections 34(10) and 57(11) of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 and prescribe the forms of the statements required by those sections.

1925 c. 21; section 144(1) was amended by the Administration of Justice Act 1982 (c. 53), Schedule 5, paragraph (d), and the reference to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food was substituted by the Transfer of Functions (Ministry of Food) Order 1955 (S.I. 1955/554).
