The Public Lending Right Scheme 1982 (Commencement of Variation) Order 1993

Coming into force
Whereas the Public Lending Right Scheme 19821(“the Scheme”) was brought into force on 14 June 1982;
Whereas the Scheme has been varied2;

And whereas the Secretary of State has, after consultation with the representatives of authors and library authorities and of others who appear likely to be affected, further varied the Scheme;

Now therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3(7) of the Public Lending Right Act 19793 and now vested in him4, hereby makes the following Order:–

This Order may be cited as the Public Lending Right Scheme 1982 (Commencement of Variation) Order 1993.

The variation made by the Secretary of State on 6th December 1993 to Article 46 of the Public Lending Right Scheme 1982 whereby paragraph (1)(a) was varied by substituting “2.00p” for “1.86p” shall come into force on 30th December 1993.

This Order brings into force on 30th December 1993 a variation to the Public Lending Right Scheme 1982 so that the sum attributable to each qualifying loan for the purposes of calculating the amount payable in respect of loans of a particular book is increased from 1.86p to 2.00p.
