The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 9(4) of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Vehicle Excise Duty (Fee for Temporary Licences) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 2nd September 1996.

Change of fee

2.  The sum of £2.35 is hereby prescribed in substitution for the sum of £2 specified in section 9(3) (fee payable for temporary licence issued by an agent of the Secretary of State) of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations substitute the sum of £2.35 for the sum of £2 which is payable, under section 9(3) of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994, where an application for a temporary vehicle licence is made to an agent of the Secretary of State.
