The Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 ( Commencement No. 1) Order 1996

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 13(3) of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996(1), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1996.

(2) In this Order “the Act”means the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.

2.  The provisions of the Act which are specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order shall come into force on 26th July 1996; the provisions specified in Part II of the Schedule shall come into force on 1st September 1996; and the provisions specified in Part III of the Schedule shall come into force on 1st October 1996.

Explanatory Note

This Order brings into force on 26th July 1996 the provisions of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 specified in Part I of the Schedule to the Order. The provisions specified in Part II of that Schedule come into force on 1st September 1996 and those in Part III on 1st October 1996.
