The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by sections 2 and 13 of the Child Abduction and Custody Act 1985(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 1996.

2.  The Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) (Amendment) Order 1996(2), the Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 1993(3) and the Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) Order 1993(4) are revoked.

3.  The Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) Order 1986(5) is amended by deleting Schedules 1 and 2 and substituting therefor Schedules 1 and 2 which are set out in the Schedule to this Order.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) Order 1986. It adds Iceland to the list of Contracting States to the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, The Hague, 25th October 1980 (Cm. 33) and to the list of Contracting States to the European Convention on Recognition and Enforcement of Decisions concerning Custody of Children and on the Restoration of Custody of Children, signed at Luxembourg on 20th May 1980 (Cm. 191).
