The Public Entertainments Licences (Drug Misuse) Act 1997 (Commencement and Transitional Provisions) Order 1998
In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 4(2) and (3) of the Public Entertainments Licences (Drug Misuse) Act 1997(), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Public Entertainments Licences (Drug Misuse) Act 1997 (Commencement and Transitional Provisions) Order 1998.
2. Sections 1 to 3 of the Public Entertainments Licences (Drug Misuse) Act 1997 shall come into force on 1st May 1998 subject to the transitional provision in article 3 below.
3. Section 1(5) and section 2(5) shall not apply in respect of any offence committed before 1st May 1998.

Explanatory Note
This Order brings into force sections 1 to 3 of the Public Entertainments Licences (Drug Misuse) Act 1997 on 1st May 1998. Section 4 came into force on Royal Assent (21st March 1997).
Article 3 makes transitional provision so that the powers conferred on courts by sections 1(5) and 2(5) to revoke licences as a consequence of conviction for an offence only apply to offences committed after commencement.
