The Special Immigration Appeals Commission Act 1997 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1998

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 9(2) of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission Act 1997(1), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Special Immigration Appeals Commission Act 1997 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1998.

2.  Sections 5 and 8 of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission Act 1997 (rules as to procedure in relation to appeals to the Commission, bail and leave to appeal from the Commission) shall come into force on 11th June 1998.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 11th June 1998 sections 5 and 8 of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission Act 1997, which provide for the Lord Chancellor to make rules as to the procedure of the Commission in relation to appeals to, and the grant of bail by, the Special Immigration Appeals Commission, and leave to appeal from the Commission.
