3. In section 9(1) of the Bankers' Books Evidence Act 1879(1) (interpretation of “bank” etc.) at the end of paragraph (aa) is inserted the word “and”.

Section 9 was substituted by section 51(1) of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 6 to, the Banking Act 1979 (c. 37.) and amended by sections 4(3) and 7(3) of, and Schedule 4 to, the Trustee Savings Banks Act 1985 (c. 58.). Subsection (1)(a) was substituted by section 108(1) of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 6 to, the Banking Act 1987 (c. 22.). Subsection (1)(aa) was inserted by section 120 of, and paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 18 to, the Building Societies Act 1986 (c. 53.). Subsection (1) was modified in relation to the reference to an institution authorised under the Banking Act 1987 by regulation 82(1) of, and paragraph 2 of Part I of Schedule 10 to, the Banking Coordination (Second Council Directive) Regulations 1992 (S.I. 1992/3218).
