18.—(1) Any liability of the undertaker under paragraph 17 above shall be reduced proportionately to the extent to which any costs, charges, damages and expenses are attributable to the act, neglect or default of the Company or of any person in its employ, or of its contractors or agents.E+W+S
(2) The Company shall give to the undertaker immediate notice of any claim or demand and no settlement or compromise shall be made without the prior consent of the undertaker.
