Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2)
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Borough of Wigan (Electoral Changes) (Amendment) Order 2005.
(2) This Order shall come into force on the day after that on which it is made.
2.—(1) The Borough of Wigan (Electoral Changes) Order 2004(4) shall be amended as follows:
(2) In article 2 “any reference to the map is a reference to the map marked “Revised (2005) Map referred to in the Borough of Wigan (Electoral Changes) Order 2004”, of which prints are available” shall be substituted for the words from “any reference to the map” to “of which prints are available”.
(3) In article 5 “the map marked “Revised (2005) Map referred to in the Borough of Wigan (Electoral Changes) Order 2004” available for inspection” shall be substituted for the words from “the map marked” to “available for inspection”.

This Order substitutes a new map for that originally referred to in the Borough of Wigan (Electoral Changes) Order 2004, in order to give full effect to recommendations by the Boundary Committee for England, a committee of the Electoral Commission, for electoral changes in the borough of Wigan.
Prints of the map may be inspected at all reasonable times at the offices of Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council and at the principal office of the Electoral Commission at Trevelyan House, Great Peter Street, London SW1P 2HW or may be viewed on the Boundary Committee for England’s website at www.boundarycommittee.org.uk/your-area/wigan.cfm.
The Electoral Commission was established by the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (c. 41). The functions of the Secretary of State, under sections 13 to 15 and 17 of the Local Government Act 1992 (c. 19), so far as they relate to electoral changes within the meaning of that Act, were transferred with modifications to the Electoral Commission by the Local Government Commission for England (Transfer of Functions) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/3962).
