(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates as a restricted area for the purposes of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973 an area within a distance of 150 metres from the site of the wreck of the Bartholomew Ledges off the coast of the Isles of Scilly.

An area around the site was previously designated as a restricted area under the Protection of Wrecks (Designation No.4) Order 1980 as amended by the Protection of Wrecks (Designation No.4 Order 1980) (Amendment) Order 1983. Following the provision of new information about the site which has shown that the position of the wreck on the sea bed has changed, this Order revokes the 1980 Order and the 1983 Order, and designates a restricted area around the site at new co-ordinates. The restricted area around these co-ordinates has also been extended from 100 to 150 metres.
