Coming into force
The Registrar General, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon her by sections 55(1), 74 and 78 of the Marriage Act 19491, with the approval of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement1
These Regulations may be cited as the Registration of Marriages (Amendment) Regulations 2007 and shall come into force on 17th August 2007.
Amendment of the Registration of Marriages Regulations 19862

The Registration of Marriages Regulations 19862 are amended as follows.

After regulation 11(4) insert—
4A
In column 7, if either party to the marriage wishes to record a step-father’s name instead of the father’s name, the registrar shall enter the word “step-father” after the surname, provided he is or has been married to the mother.
Amendment of the Marriage (Authorised Persons) Regulations 19523

The Marriage (Authorised Persons) Regulations 19523 are amended as follows.

After regulation 20, insert—
20A
In column 7 (fathers name and surname) if either party wishes to record a step-father’s name instead of the father’s name, the authorised person shall enter the word “step-father” after the surname, provided he is or has been married to the mother.
