Coming into force

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 19901.

Citation, extent and commencement1

This Order—

a

may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (England and Wales) Order 2009;

b

extends to England and Wales only; and

c

comes into force on 15th July 2009.

Variation of section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 19902

In section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 19902 (purposes for which financial assistance may be given), after paragraph (zz), add—

the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership Limited, in relation to its activities as respects England and Wales.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order varies section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 so as to enable the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, to give financial assistance to, or for the purposes of, the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership Limited in relation to its activities in England and Wales.

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership Limited is a company limited by guarantee whose main objects are the preservation, conservation and protection of the environment by the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from road transport through encouraging a shift to low carbon vehicles and fuels and their efficient use.

An Impact Assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the costs of business, the public sector, third party sector organisations, regulators or consumers is foreseen.
