SCHEDULE 3 U.K. Amendments relating to policing

Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998 U.K.

28.—(1) Amend section 55(1) (consideration of other matters by Police Ombudsman) as follows. U.K.

(2) In subsections (1) and (7) after “Board” (wherever occurring) insert “, the Department of Justice”.

(3) After subsection (1) insert—

“(1A) The Secretary of State may refer a matter to the Ombudsman under subsection (1) only if it appears to the Secretary of State that the matter relates (in whole or in part) to an excepted matter or reserved matter (within the meaning given by section 4 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998(2)).”
