HEALTH AND SAFETY
These Regulations, in respect of Great Britain, provide for the appointment of competent authorities in relation to Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2012 concerning the making available on the market and use of biocidal products (“the Biocides Regulation”; OJ No L167, 27.06.12, p.1) and Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (“the CLP Regulation”; OJ No. L353, 31.12.08, p.1).

PART 2APPOINTMENT OF COMPETENT AUTHORITIES AND DESIGNATED NATIONAL AUTHORITIES
Competent authorities and designated national authorities7
The Great Britain Executive and the Northern Ireland Executive are the designated national authorities—
a
to act for the performance of the administrative functions required by the PIC Regulation, in accordance with Article 4 of that Regulation; and
b
to have the responsibility for controlling the export and import of chemicals listed in Annex I of the PIC Regulation, in accordance with Article 18 of that Regulation.
