The Lord President of the Council makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 25(1) and 27(1) and (4) of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013(1).
1. This Order may be cited as the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 (Commencement No.1) Order 2013.
2. The following provisions of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 come into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made—
(a)section 2(6);
(b)section 13(2), so far as it relates to the provisions specified in paragraph (d) of this article;
(c)Schedule 2 (sharing and checking information etc);
(d)paragraphs 4(4) and 9(1) and (5) to (7) of Schedule 5 (transitional provision to do with Part 1).

This is the first Commencement Order bringing into force provisions of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 (c.6). It brings into force, on the day after the day on which it is made, provisions enabling regulations to be made about the disclosure of information for the purposes of electoral registration (Schedule 2) and provisions relating to the postponement of the annual canvass for 2013 to early 2014 (paragraph 9(1) and (5) to (7) of Schedule 5). It also brings into force on that day certain requirements for consultation and reports (Schedule 2 and paragraph 4(4) of Schedule 5). Sections 2(6) and 13(2) give effect to Schedules 2 and 5.
2013 c.6. Section 25(1) defines “the Minister” as the Lord President of the Council or the Secretary of State.
