The Lord Chief Justice agrees to the making of these Regulations pursuant to paragraph 11(2) of Schedule 7 to that Act.

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Coroners Allowances, Fees and Expenses (Amendment) Regulations 2018 and come into force on 1st December 2018.

Amendment to the Coroners Allowances, Fees and Expenses Regulations 2013

2.  In regulation 17(1) (indemnity) of the Coroners Allowances, Fees and Expenses Regulations 2013(2), for sub-paragraph (c), substitute—

(c)damages awarded against the coroner, or costs ordered to be paid by the coroner, in such proceedings;.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations correct an error in the Coroners Allowances, Fees and Expenses Regulations 2013 (S.I. 2013/1615) by including an express provision to indemnify coroners against awards or orders for costs made against them in the exercise of their duties under the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (c. 25).

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.

2009 c. 25. Paragraph 11(1) of Schedule 7 to the 2009 Act provides that the power to make regulations under that Schedule is exercisable by the Lord Chancellor.
