The Secretary of State, in exercise of the power conferred by section 64(2) of the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering 2018(1), makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2018.
2. The following provisions of the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 come into force on the day after the day on which these Regulations are made—
(a)sections 1 to 31;
(b)sections 33 to 48;
(c)sections 57 and 58;
(d)section 59(4) so far as it relates to the provisions coming into force in accordance with paragraph (f) of this regulation;
(e)Schedule 1;
(f)paragraphs 1 to 7, and sub-paragraphs (1) to (3) of paragraph 8, of Schedule 3.

These Regulations bring into force certain provisions of the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 (“the Act”) relating to sanctions. Certain provisions of the Act came into force on Royal Assent by virtue of section 64(1) of the Act. The remaining provisions of the Act, including the repeal of certain existing legislation relating to sanctions, and certain provisions relating to anti-money laundering under Part 2 of the Act, are intended to be brought into force at a later date.
