The Education (School Inspection) (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2004

The National Assembly for Wales makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 15(2), 17(2)(a), 21(2)(a) and 45(3) of, and paragraphs 2(2) and 3(1) of Schedule 4 to the Schools Inspection Act 19961, and now vested in it2.

Name, commencement, application1

These Regulations are called the Education (School Inspection) (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2004 and come into force on 1st September 2004.

They apply only in relation to Wales.

Amendment of the Education (School Inspection) (Wales) Regulations 19982

The Education (School Inspection) (Wales) Regulations 19983 are amended as follows.

In regulation 7(2)—

a

for the words “five weeks” substitute the words “35 working days”, and

b

delete the words “, or, where it is necessary to provide a translation into Welsh or English, the period of seven weeks from that date”.

In regulation 8(1)—

a

for the word “forty” substitute the words “forty five”, and

b

delete the words “, or where it is necessary to provide a translation into Welsh or English, the period of forty five working days from that date”.

In regulation 13(2)—

a

for the words “five weeks” substitute the words “35 working days”, and

b

delete the words “or within seven weeks from that date where it is necessary to provide a translation into Welsh or English,”.

In regulation 13(3)—

a

for the word “forty” substitute the words “forty five”, and

b

delete the words “or within forty five working days from that date where it is necessary to provide a translation into Welsh or English,”.

These Regulations amend the Education (School Inspection) (Wales) Regulations 1998 so as to change the period within which an inspection report must be completed to 35 working days in every case, and the period within which an action plan must be prepared to 45 working days in every case.
