In particular, they implement the revisions made to the Community marketing rules introduced by Commission Regulation (EC) No 1221/2008 (OJ No L 336, 13.12.2008, p 1) amending Regulation (EC) No 1580/2007 laying down implementing rules of Council Regulations (EC) No 2200/96, (EC) No 2201/96 and (EC) No 1182/2007 in the fruit and vegetable sector as regards marketing standards. The Welsh Ministers are designated as the inspection body under Article 9(1)(b) of Commission Implementing Regulation 543/2011.

For the purposes of fulfilling the obligations on inspection bodies contained in the marketing rules and for the enforcement of these Regulations, the Welsh Ministers may as appropriate or where required to do so provide information to the Secretary of State, the Northern Ireland or Scotland inspection bodies.

The Welsh Ministers may appoint officers for the purposes of the enforcement of these Regulations, in these Regulations referred to as authorised officers.
