The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 (Commencement) Order 2015

The Welsh Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 56(2) of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015(1).

Title and interpretation

1.—(1) The title of this Order is the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 (Commencement) Order 2015.

(2) In this Order “the Act” (“y Ddeddf”) means the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.

Appointed day

2.  16 October 2015 is the appointed day for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act—

(a)section 1 (overview);

(b)section 6 (meaning of “public body”);

(c)section 10 (national indicators and annual well-being report);

(d)section 14 (guidance);

(e)section 17 (Future Generations Commissioner for Wales);

(f)section 22(2) (duty to follow recommendations: guidance)

(g)section 22(3) (duty to follow recommendations: taking guidance into account);

(h)section 26 (advisory panel);

(i)section 27 (appointed members);

(j)section 28 (payment of panel members’ expenses);

(k)section 40(7) (local well-being plans: duty of the Welsh Ministers to issue guidance);

(l)section 40(8) (local well-being plans: duty of community councils to take guidance into account);

(m)section 51 (guidance);

(n)section 52 (meaning of “public body”: further provision);

(o)Schedule 2 (the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This is the first commencement order made by the Welsh Ministers under the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 (“the Act”).

Article 2 of the Order provides that 16 October 2015 is the appointed day for the bringing into force of the provisions of the Act set out in that article and referred to below:

Sections 53 (power to make consequential etc. provision), 54 (regulations), 55 (interpretation), 56 (commencement) and 57 (short title) of the Act came into force on 30 April 2015.
