Introduction
1.These Explanatory Notes are for the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 which was passed by the National Assembly for Wales on 8 July 2014 and received Royal Assent on 17 September 2014. These have been prepared by the Department for Local Government and Communities of the Welsh Government to assist the reader of the Act. The Explanatory Notes should be read in conjunction with the Act but are not part of it.
2.A reference to a local authority in these Explanatory Notes is a reference to a county council or a county borough council in Wales. These are all ‘local housing authorities’ in addition to their other functions. Local housing authorities in Wales are county or county borough councils which exercise a range of functions dealing with a variety of matters.
