46Civil remedy for common assault and battery not to be barred under the Offences against the Person Act, 1861.N.I.
(1)The conviction or punishment of a person upon complaint of an offence under sections forty-two or forty-three of the Offences against the Person Act, 1861 M1, or the dismissal of any such complaint shall not operate to bar any civil proceedings which might otherwise be brought against him.
