Dehorning of cattle
12Prohibition of exposure for sale, etc., of cattle recently dehorned.

Cattle bearing unhealed wounds which appear to have resulted from the removal of their horns shall not be—
a
exposed for sale in any market or fair or sale-yard or other public or private place where animals are commonly offered or exposed for sale; or
b
brought to any slaughter-house.

If subsection (1) is contravened with respect to any cattle, the owner of the cattle shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceedingF1 level 3 on the standard scale or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to both.

In this section—
“cattle” means bulls, cows, bullocks, heifers, calves, steers or oxen;
“slaughter-house” means any building, premises or place used in connection with the business of killing animals for the purpose of the flesh being used for human consumption.
