33Reckonable service as an MSP

A period for which an MSP member makes scheme member contributions from salary payments in respect of MSP salary is a period of reckonable service as an MSP.

An individual’s “reckonable service as an MSP” means the total of—

a

the period described in rule 33(1) or (if more than one) the total of such periods, and

b

any amount by which that period is increased under Part N (transfers) or Part O (added years).

34Reckonable service as an office-holder

A period for which an office-holder member makes scheme member contributions from salary payments in respect of office-holder salary is a period of reckonable service as an office-holder.

An individual’s “reckonable service as an office-holder” means the total of—

a

the period described in rule 34(1) or (if more than one) the total of such periods, and

b

any amount by which that period is increased under Part N (transfers) or Part O (added years).

35Total reckonable service

An individual’s “total reckonable service” is the total of any periods in which the individual obtains—

a

reckonable service as an MSP only under rule 33(1),

b

reckonable service as an office-holder only under rule 34(1), and

c

reckonable service as both an MSP and office-holder under both those rules.

36Measuring reckonable service

A period of reckonable service is measured in years and fractions of a year (unless the contrary intention appears).
