Wildlife offences: penalties

11Wild Mammals (Protection) Act 1996: penalties for offences

In section 5 (penalties) of the Wild Mammals (Protection) Act 1996, for subsection (1) substitute—

“(1)

A person guilty of an offence under this Act is liable—

(a)

on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or a fine not exceeding £40,000 (or both),

(b)

on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or a fine (or both).”.
