SCHEDULE 4Campaign rules: investigatory powers of the Electoral Commission
Offences

(1)
A person who fails, without reasonable excuse, to comply with any requirement imposed under or by virtue of this schedule commits an offence.
(2)
A person who intentionally obstructs a person authorised by or by virtue of this schedule in the carrying out of that person's functions under the authorisation commits an offence.
(3)
A person who knowingly or recklessly provides false information in purported compliance with a requirement imposed under or by virtue of this schedule commits an offence.
(4)
A person who commits an offence under sub-paragraph (2) is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale.
(5)
A person who commits an offence under sub-paragraph (1) or (3) is liable—
(a)
on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum (or both),
(b)
on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to a fine (or both).
