Civil Partnership NoticeN.I.
3.—(1) A civil partnership notice shall be in the form as set out in Schedule 1.
(2) The civil partnership notice for each party to a civil partnership intended to be registered in Northern Ireland shall be served on the registrar at least [F128 days] before the date of the intended civil partnership except where—
(a)the registrar has received a written request from one or both of the parties giving the reason why [F128 days] notice cannot be given; and
(b)[F2subject to paragraph (3),] the registrar has been authorised by the Registrar General to reduce the period of [F128 days] to such shorter period as he considers necessary.
[F3(3) Unless paragraph (4) applies, if a proposed civil partnership is referred to the Secretary of State under section 139E of the Act (“the referred civil partnership”) the Registrar General may only authorise the registrar to reduce the period of 28 days notice mentioned in paragraph (2)(b) with the consent of Secretary of State.
(4) This paragraph applies if the request is made because a party to the referred civil partnership is gravely ill and not expected to recover.]
