ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

The Penalty Charges (Prescribed Amounts) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006

The Department for Regional Development makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 4(4) of the Traffic Management (Northern Ireland) Order 2005(1):

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as The Penalty Charges (Prescribed Amounts) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 30th October 2006.

(2) In these Regulations “the Order” means the Traffic Management (Northern Ireland) Order 2005.

Penalty Charges

2.  The penalty charge payable for each of the contraventions specified in Schedule 1 to the Order shall be £60.

Reductions and Increases

3.—(1) The percentage reduction for the purposes of Articles 5(3)(d) and 7(3)(d) of the Order shall be 50%.

(2) The percentage increase for the purposes of Article 14(2) of the Order shall be 50%.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations prescribe penalty charges for road traffic offences subject to civil enforcement for the purposes of Article 4(4) of the Traffic Management (Northern Ireland) Order 2005.

The penalty charge to be applied in these cases is £60. Percentage reductions or increases in specified cases are also given.
