Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
This Order approves the Code of Practice issued by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (“the Department”) for the purpose of giving practical advice on the requirements of Article 13 of the Consumer Protection (Northern Ireland) Order 1987, which is concerned with misleading price indications and promoting desirable practices in respect of price indications. Reliance may be placed on compliance with or contravention of the Code in proceedings for a contravention of Article 13(1) or (2) of that Order.
A Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) has been prepared in respect of the Code of Practice for Traders on Price Indications. A copy of the RIA is available from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Consumer Affairs Branch, 176 Newtownbreda Road, Belfast BT6 6QS.
The Consumer Protection (Code of Practice for Traders on Price Indications) Approval Order (Northern Ireland) 1989 which approved the previous Code issued by the Department is revoked by this Order.
