6Furnished lettings: increase in rateable value limits

In section 71 of the Rent Act 1968 (dwellings to which Part VI applies) for subsection (1) there shall be substituted the following subsections:—

(1)Subject to any provision made by an order under subsection (2) below, where the appropriate day in relation to any dwelling fell before 1st April 1973, this Part of this Act applies to the dwelling if—

(a)it had on the appropriate day a rateable value not exceeding, if it is in Greater London, £400, or, if it is elsewhere, £200 ; or

(b)it had on 1st April 1973 a rateable value not exceeding, if it is in Greater London, £1,500, or, if it is elsewhere, £750.

(1A)Subject to any provision made by an order under subsection (2) below, where the appropriate day in relation to any dwelling fell or falls on or after 1st April 1973, this Part of this Act applies to the dwelling if it has or had on the appropriate day a rateable value not exceeding, if it is in Greater London, £1,500, or, if it is elsewhere, £750.
