14Citation, construction, repeals, commencement and extent
(1)This Act may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Act 1984, and this Act and the Merchant Shipping Acts 1894 to 1983 may be cited together as the Merchant Shipping Acts 1894 to 1984.
(2)This Act shall be construed as one with the Merchant Shipping Acts 1894 to 1983.
(3)Any reference in this Act to any provision of those Acts does not, where that provision has been applied to hovercraft by virtue of section 1(1)(h) of the [1968 c. 59.] Hovercraft Act 1968, include a reference to it as so applied.
(4)The enactments mentioned in Schedule 2 to this Act are hereby repealed to the extent specified in the third column of that Schedule.
(5)This Act shall come into force at the end of the period of two months beginning with the day on which it is passed.
(6)This Act extends to Northern Ireland.
