Local Government Act 1985

12 (1) In section 189(2) of the [1957 c. 56.] Housing Act 1957 for the words after " City of London " there shall be substituted the words " and the council of a district or London borough." .

(2) For section 23(4) of the [1963 c. 33.] London Government Act 1963 there shall be substituted—

“(4) The Minister may at any time after 1st April 1965 require any London borough to submit to him a programme for any transfers of housing accommodation vested in that borough such as are mentioned in subsection (3)(b) of this section which they propose to make and have not yet made.”

(3) In section 84 of the [1974 c. 44.] Housing Act 1974 for the definition of " local authority " there shall be substituted—

• “" local authority " means the council of a district or London borough or the Common Council of the City of London;”.

(4) For section 118 of the [1977 c. 42.] Rent Act 1977 there shall be substituted—

“118 In this Part of this Act, except where the context otherwise requires, " local authority " means—

(a) the council of a district or of a London borough ;

(b) the Common Council of the City of London ; or

(c) the Council of the Isles of Stilly.”.

(5) For section 1(8)(a) of the [1978 c. 48.] Homes Insulation Act 1978 there shall be substituted—

“(a) in Greater London, London borough councils and the Common Council of the City of London ;”.
