(1) The provision of funding for [F36 Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales or Prif Arolygydd Ei Mawrhydi dros Addysg a Hyfforddiant yng Nghymru] (“the Chief Inspector”) shall be the responsibility of the [F37 Welsh Ministers] .

(2) What subsection (1) requires of the [F37 Welsh Ministers] is that [F38 they] shall provide such funding for the Chief Inspector as [F39 they consider] appropriate.

(3) In deciding what funding [F40 they consider] appropriate to provide for the Chief Inspector, the [F37 Welsh Ministers] shall have regard in particular to what [F40 they consider] the Chief Inspector needs to spend in order to discharge his functions effectively.

(4) The [F37 Welsh Ministers] shall before the beginning of each financial year consult the Chief Inspector about the funding [F41 they are] to provide for him in that financial year F42 . . .

[F43 (4A) The [F37 Welsh Ministers] shall—

(a) approve the plan submitted to [F44 them] under section 87 of the Learning and Skills Act 2000; and

(b) determine the amount of the funding [F45 they are] to provide under this section in accordance with the plan as approved by [F46 them] .

(4B) But before [F47 they give their] approval under subsection (4A)(a), the [F37 Welsh Ministers] may require the Chief Inspector to modify the plan.]
